Cab Sim Bypass on VT Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I was recently made aware of the Putnam Cab Sim switch mod on the VT Bass, and I'm wondering what people thought about it. Am I really going to get that much more low end? I'm not as concerned with the highs I'll gain from the mod, and I'm not sure what the other advantages to turning off the cab sim would be.

cab sim attenuates both lows around 60 hz and highs past 5k. so the cab sim defeat will give it 20-20k range. worthwhile mod if you like ampeg tone with full range. for me, i like it just the way it is.

Thanks for the info, Jimmy! I got a Devi Ever Dark Boost to cover growly bass boost duties, so I think I'll keep the VT the way it is.

Putnam has soundclips up on his website, with/without speaker emu; have a listen for yourself.
