Calling all expert LOOPtioneers for pedal recomendation re: layering effects

Sign in to disble this ad
I prefer a clean layered sound for doubling and tripling sometimes layering 4 effects: 1. Dry, 2. Overdrive/Fuzz, 3.Octaver/Mods, and 4. Delay seperately( Jamiroquai type stuff ) You could say I like salad as opposed to soup, when it comes to effects.

First problem is selecting which layers are on and off - I currently use a combination of ab/y switches and tuners to achieve this (annoying), the worst problem is bringing the signal back to one DI for the sound guys - they look at me like im crazy when i tell them i have multiple DI's and 2 stereo inputs. (for my delays).

Once they hear multiple effects trading sides from left to right through the house PA, I get compliments but before that they think Im nuts, Is there a DI box or pedal that can combine all these layers, mix them (Volume on each loop)and send them to both the sound guy in one stereo input and a mono 1/4 signal to what ever cab I might use ?

ALso, Can an XLR DI be stereo? - not even sure.

I can't say I'm experienced with this kind of system, but have you thought of using a sub-mixer? That way you can feed your signal into the mixer, send the stereo outs to the house mixer, and use the monitor outs for your amplifier.

As far as I know, all XLRs are mono, so if you want the effects to pan between L and R, you'll need two of those (but I may be wrong)

Also, there's a stereo DI you could use too, like the Radial Duplex.

Hope this helps.

Badger Schism or Wounded Paw Super Blender should take care of all your non delay needs (based upon what you listed as needs). Radial has some stereo DI as was mentioned before.

If I have it right this way you would need a splitter to divide one side to the [schism/ blender] and the other would go to your delay. Then you would need a stereo DI and a mono DI for your three signals.

Hope I understood your needs correctly.
