New to effects and was wondering if there are any Multi effects pedals/racks that are capable of having patches/chains edited on a PC/Mac and then sent back to a unit.
Something suitable for a newb (to effects) and not the most expensive in the World.
Cheers

That was one of the cool things I really liked about my pod xt live. Not sure about any of the other stuff from them though (like the M13/M9). Check out their site. |

Looking for a high level of functionality is going to point you in another direction though, from "Something suitable for a newb (to effects) and not the most expensive in the World.

The Boss GT10B has some editability from your computer - ie you can backup patches, and reorder them before you rewrite to the unit. |

Ive got the PODxt Live floorboard with the expansion packs, so its basically a BASS pod as well... also can use it as a direct interface for recording, and is useful for other instruments and vocals as well...

I agree though that if you're a newb to effects, looking for deep programming capability is biting off more than you can chew. |

As far as for newbies go, I think editing on a PC is a whole lot easier for someone new to effects than screwing around with buttons and dials on the front of the box, all while look at the manual to understand what the screen is trying to say. I sure wish I could edit my Zoom B2 from my PC.

Generally if the Unit has a USB port, then it will communicate directly to a computer, otherwise it will need midi ports (in & out) and a midi adapter to plug into the computer.
Two of the same devices will usually let you copy the complete setup from one device to the other via a midi cable.
