Can anyone compary the carbon copy with a boss dd-3/6/7?

I'm after a small delay, I like the sound of the DD-3 sample posted in the wiki but haven't heard the carbon copy which has been getting thumbs up all round (xept for the recent switch probs!)

Has anyone used both these pedals? I'm kind of pulling towards the Boss cos of the extra features and am looking at the DD-6 but if the CC is as good as the hype I may go down that route - go on, make up my mind for me!

i have a dd3 and cc. they sound very different, go to guitar center and try them out on your own and let your ears decide.

metallic versus organic. digital vs. analog. that's the difference. your decision depends on what uses it's going to be given.

for me...... CC>DD3

get em both. they both rock. cascade em into one another, i myself have cc dd3 md3(guyatone). of course it depends on the music your gonna play too. im in a spacey experimental proggy band so ican use all sorts a stuff.

If you want a digital delay with as clear as possible repeats, I'd go with a DD-3. If you want lush, warm, organic sound, the Carbon Copy absolutely destroys the DD-3. I did clips of both pedals a long time ago somewhere on this forum if you'd like to compare them.

the dd7 gives you a lot of options. i didnt notice that was an option. i have no experience with that device though.

in the end you gotta try em yourself. there are a TON of delays out there. dl4, headrush,nova, echobox, maxon, ibanez, guyatone, blah blah.............a ton o stuff. give em a whirl. if youre like me youll get a few

I'm bored and I've got some time to kill so here's the soundclips of the MXR Carbon Copy. The first clip is me trying to do a cheesy country slapback delay. It's a lot of fun:

Next is a more psychedelic vibe delay. I feel that the warmth of the repeats on the MXR gets that feel a little bit better than the precision of a digital delay:

I used to consider the Boss delays as the standard for clear digital repeats. But then I tried the Guyatone MD-3. Much cleaner delay. Of course, it is severely lacking in features compared to the Boss, but in terms of just the delay sound I think it's a good deal better. Of course, if you want really clear delays with a boatload of other options (tap tempo, ability to store presets, reverse, good tape sounds, crude looping, hp/lp filters and modulation) nothing beats the Empress Superdelay. But it's an expensive option.

Yeah, I had been looking at the Empress as well as the Echolution and the Time factor - all great pedals but I havn't got much space on my pedal board as it is....or the cash for that matter.

Space was a consideration for me too. The Superdelay is actually pretty compact, all things considered. It's around 5 1/2" wide and has top jacks which helped me save space. The Time Factor and the Echolution are a good deal bigger.

Of course, the DD-7 is only half as wide with the Carbon Copy is smaller still. And that's to say nothing of the little MD-3.
