No. It can't. The Bass POD XT is mono and the Guitar version is stereo.

well, during the last (only ?) firmware update of Bass Pod XT, I nearly put the Pod XT firmware onto it. Didn't get any warnings... so I guess the OP could install the flash for the Pod and see what happens...

edit - the Bass Pod has also two 1/4" outs, model and direct, they'd be reprogrammed to right and left....
Should work as far I can see, but only Line6 could tell you for certain.
However the only thing certain is that they won't give you a straight answer !!!

edit 2 - oops, Pod live, been thinking about the bean...sorry

The question comes up frequently on the Line 6 site. The answer is always the same and every time the same issue comes up, "but it has two outputs".

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I don't want to see the OP crater his POD. If you think they're the same internally and just a different colored case, then why were model packs available for the guitar POD XT and not the Bass POD XT?

Don't do it.

Clarification..

IF you flash a rom and it doesn't work.. this makes the unit useless.

The official word is to follow the flash instructions for your unit.

Don't geeks call poorly flashed boxes "bricks"

IIRC, they used the same PCBs on the Bass PODxt Live as on the PODxt Live. If you take a look at the output jacks on the PCB boards, they are labeled "left" and "right", not model and DI...
