Post can i get a little help in choosing bass pedal/pedals set?

Sign in to disble this ad
Im into some grindcore/brutal/death metal now, and im using my old 4 string yamaha rbx170 which i recreated into some kind of 5 string bass (5, 4, 3, 2). I play using my fingers in the key of A and i need to get me a good sick crappy sound like someone is banging on a car's rooftop with a shovel. Now can anybody help me choose some pedals to do that please?

You will probably like the Boss MD-2. Check out the audio section on this link to hear a bass though it.

Thanks for the reply, but im sorry this is not it at all, i think bass should be never overdriven, it starts to get in the way of the distorted guitar the sound mixes and the outcome sounds like ****.
so please - one rule - NO bass distortions or overdrives!!
Hope to get good advices!

If you want that sound, it's not an effect pedal you are after. Go to the technique forum, there is a thread about a death metal technique it's a sticky.

Bassicly you just hit the strings toward the fretboard with a ridiculous force to create a constant clacking noise with every note most clean metal or hardcore bassists uses that technique.

If you're having trouble getting the sound you want after you get that technique down, than I suggest looking into EQs, compressors, etc.

over driven bass can have its place roll off the high etc it still fills the sound out and sounds aggresive
