Question Can I get this tone from a BassPOD?

Hey guys.

I have a tone in my head, and I want to get it out on to those speakers and my headphones! So I'm thinking about mabye buying a bean BassPOD.

Can I get a growly, crunchy, nasty-*** tone that makes people jump back and go "HEY! that is COOL!" Think of Geddy Lee and Chris Squire rolled in to one. Chredddy Squirlee. Can I get something ridiculously growly and crunchy from a Bean BassPOD and my Geddy Lee Jazz?

Thanks,
Trav.

Yes.

You'll just have to work with the Pod and learn the ins and outs of the effects. There's also a very large number of existing settings that can be downloaded online and uploaded into your Bass Pod. Likely something out there similar to what you're talking about.

A lot depends on the bass you're playing. It won't make a Fender sound like a Ric. or a MM sound like a Ken Smith.

Well, try workingwith the gain, master volume, EQ, and distortion modules. Use each amp module. Maybe lookupwhat amp they used and see if the POD has that ampin its settings and use that as a starting point.

I was watching Songs From Tsongas yesterday, and Chris gets the same tone out of alot of basses that arent RIC's. He also uses a pick though, which I don't.

Pick sound with fingers

You are looking for something very ellusive if you are trying to get a pick tone while using your fingers. It has been something that I have been fooling around with, and have yet to get success with. If the tone you are looking for comes from a guy using a pick, you might have to just start practicing with a pick.

For me, I love Chancellor's tone, but can't get it with my fingers. With my Bongo, Mesa amp, and a few pedals...I can get darn close when I use a pick. Now, if I only didn't suck when I used a pick!
