Can Pickle Pie B do a light/mid overdrive?

Can you utilize the blend control for a good sounding OD?
I've seen the videos and heard clips but it's always quite aggressive and growls like a lion about to eat you alive. Not that it's a bad thing! Just wondering how diverse the thing can get.

It sure can.
keep the saturation low and blend about 1/4 to 1/2.
sounds like a tube amp being pushed just a little too hard

Sorry, I had to...

Sounds perfect! Now I see how it could be "the only dirt pedal you need" for some.

In general the Pickle B can do low RPM distortion, it's not really good at it. An overdrive pedal is better at light OD (Fuzzrocious Driving Dark for example). If you need some flexibility it's better in my experience to take a distortion pedal and have it do overdrive and light fuzz at the other end of the spectrum. Since distortion pedals are right smack in the middle of the OD-Fuzz spectrum they are better are doing everything than a fuzz pedal.

Hematoma from Homebrew Electronics, Fulltone Bass Drive, Pork Loin, Badder Monkey are all pretty good at doing a bit of everything.

Also if you decide the Pickle B is your direction, I would look at the Swollen Pickle instead. It's the original version of that pedal and it's a lot cheaper. Tone wise they are similar too. (Watch 20 incendiary posts begging to differ on this one).

Actually I already own a Swollen Pickle.
Do you think the pickle pie b is not all that upgrade from the swollen pickle?
I was also looking at Darkglass B3K and man that thing sounds good, expensive as hell though!

I think they sound slightly different and many people including myself prefer the original Not bashing Wren and Cuff; just a matter of taste in tone.
The Darkglass seems like a superb unit but the price is indeed quite high. I would like this pedal better if it was under $200. This comes with larger production run.

Interesting!
Maybe I could use my Pickle for an all mass fuzz destruction, and a pedal like maybe Green Rhino for an OD. Or some other OD pedal.

The Green Rhino is terrific on bass and so is the Pork Loin.
