can somebody i.d this Di box

this is a long shot...I worked with an engineer a few years ago and tracked the bass through this awesome tube di box.. the sound was incredible! Anyway despite remembering to make a note of what it was at the time I now for the life of me can't remember.

It was a tube di box which had black metal casing and then all the writing and graphics were in yellow (not a sansamp)... it was quite big but not very high - kinda like a sansamp shape but bigger and it weighed quite a bit.

any ideas of what it might have been?

Demeter?

Writings not yellow, but maybe it'll stick.

Music Valve?

Box isn't black, but maybe it'll stick.

Black metal casing with yellow writing sounds like a B.K. Butler (Chandler) product.

why don´t you call the studio or the engineer and ask what he used for recording you?

Maybe it wasn´t a DI only, I mean maybe it was a Pre with built in DI

What was the name of the studio? A lot of studios have websites that list all their gear. The DI could have been personally owned by Michael, so I would try emailing him at michaelcross@earthlink.net

Neither Palmer nor Countryman make tube DI's.

I'd guess an old Tube Works DI. They were awesome. They turned into Genz Benz. Maybe they know?

Demeter / Innovative Audio makes a great tube DI, very popular in the studios. Was it that?

Tubeworks 4001, also called the Real Tube DI. Intimately familiar with it. Here's the manual:
