I don't have one to post a clip of it, but as you're a fretless player I highly recommend Gary Numan's "I, Assassin" album, as it features Pino playing some insanely great fretless through an OC-2. (At least that's what I recall reading he used- somebody please correct me if I'm mistaken.) But assuming my recollection of the OC-2 there is correct, it is featured prominently and clearly throughout the album. There are probably some short clips of the tracks on Amazon.

IMO octave pedals on bass are useless.

You're right Bongo.
He used an OC-2.
Really nice playing, as always.

IMO you've never heard Pino or another player who actually took the time to learn how to use it well. Octavers actually require learning and practice to get good use from, so it's common for new users to think octavers suck.

Check out Oteil & The Peacemakers' "Believer". I think he is using an OC-3, but there are bass octave effects all over that record.

At the second half of the clip you can listen the effect.
It just added a octave below.

It's very subtle.

Also, make sure to check out the Effects Clip Database in the Talkbass Wiki:

http://www.talkbass.com/wiki/index.p..._Clip_Database

There's some OC-2 clips right there.

If you would like to hear what any gear sounds like, your best bet is to always search YouTube first.
