Can you turn off the effect of a sansamp and still use it as a DI?

In specific the sansamp bddi. I'd like to give it sort of an overdrive feel, but not all the time and I don't want to get down and adjust it. So if I turn off the effect does the DI still run?

Yes! It's an active DI all the time, then the footswitch kicks on the shaping, etc. you can balance the levels so you can easily have clean/dirty at a stomp
