Chain advice, VT Bass, EQ, Muff, Comp

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got a compressor and a VT bass on the way. I've already got a Boss GEB-7 EQ and a Bass Big Muff and a pedalboard. I was thinking to run compressor>Muff>VT (VT last in case I want to use it as a preamp and the manual says to run it after fuzz and comp).

I just don't know where to put the Boss EQ.

Any suggestions?

If your bass is passive, you may find the fuzz sounds best if it's first in the chain. If your bass is active, it doesn't matter where you put the fuzz.

You may not need the EQ pedal, the VT will probably do all the EQ'ing you need for tone purposes.

Bass is a passive Jazz. The only reason I'm thinking about including the EQ is just for tonal variety without having to fiddle with the VT knobs while playing. I may not always have the VT on, I don't know. And there's space on the board. If I fill the board up I may not buy anything else.

In that case I'd go:

bass --> muff --> comp --> EQ --> VT.

That way the bass can interact with the muff, and changes in your Boss EQ settings and EQ on/off won't affect your compressor settings.
