Chain assistance.

Finally getting around to throwing all of these loose devices into some sort of integrated unit. I've researched conventional wisdom a bit, and came up with the following:

1: Volume/Pitchblack > POG2 > Bass XXL > [add'l fuzz or OD to be det.] > BMS > DOD Bass Chorus > Headrush > VT Deluxe

2 (BMS closer to front?): Volume/Pitchblack > BMS > POG2 > [fuzz] > XXL/other OD > DOD Bass Chorus > Headrush > VT

Notes:

- Either active or passive basses could be used
- The XXL is in there because it's what I've got - might look at alternatives down the line. Same with the chorus.
- There's no line buffer in the path - issue?
- I've thought about a comp immediately before the VT. Solid reasoning?
- Anywhere in there that a blender might prove useful?

What say you?

Pitch tracking pedals usually need to be near the front of the chain, but you have two -- what sounds better Pog2 >> BMS or BMS >> Pog2?

Tuner first seems like a good idea. If you have a volume pedal, try putting it right before your headrush.

Personally, I'd go with option 2 as it seems like you're using the VT as an always-on effect to color your tone (otherwise I'd move it closer to the OD/fuzz pedals you'd be using, obviously YMMV).

I see no problem as long as you have a volume pedal that is fine with using active or passive impedance. Or you could get a pedal that likes active impedance and indeed move it to before the delay for swelled delay sweeps, or even at the very end of the chain to do standard volume swells and/or use it as a master mute/output volume.

If it works, it works. However, GAS is definitely a killer as I can attest to.

Actually the BOSS Chorus and (if I'm not mistaken) the VT (possibly the XXL as well) are buffered bypass pedals. You shouldn't need a line buffer unless you're really pushing a lot of pedals and find that you're losing massive amounts of signal. I once had a board with around 18 pedals and two of which were buffered bypass and never had any problems, however my cables were are short as possible.

Compression isn't really for everyone but I can't really see a problem with using one other than that you might not like it being after your overdrives (although some people do).

Not really unless you find yourself needing a bi-amped type of tone, or that you are dropping out of the mix when you click on a pedal. Otherwise it's just a waste of money IMHO.
