Cheap, Effective Patch Cables

Sign in to disble this ad
It appears that I am stuck in that endless gripe for patch cables. When i have proper funds im going to grabthe George L's patchcable kit, but until then i need a cheap option. Does anyone on here have experience with Radioshack patch cables? They have 6", 1', 2' and 3' lengths, which is perfect for what i need and DIRT cheap . Any pros or cons that people have experienced with these?

This may sound insane but I don't totally hate the radio shack cable. I had my board wired with them for some time and although people had some nasty things to say about them, they worked fine. They may not be perfectly transparent but I used them, made auditions, and got great gigs using them.

The thing is i can not attest to their reliability due to the one piece molded design although come to think of it I don't think I've ever had one break. I still use them when I'm changing my board around too so they are nice to have around.

All of that being said when the board is finalized it is more often than not wired with lava cable.

The cable thing drove me nuts for months so I hope that helps you out. That is a real world opinion with over 170 shows nationwide this year alone.

i have Hosa patch cables. they were the only ones my local shop had (well, the most-local shop atleast..) so i gave them a shot. $5 each, they get the job done, but if your using a lot of them i'd def reccomend atleast a master bypass switch. right now i have i think 9 of them on my board, and theres definately a differnce. not huge huge, but its a fair differnce..

they also make the no cable, just plug-to-plug type of thing, i think those were $3. i wouldve gotten them if i saw them the first time around- might save space and keep the board neat.

I've had both my boards wired up with both Monster and the premium Planet Waves cables. I've also had them completely wired up with the black Radio Shack cables. I, nor anybody in my various bands, could here any difference live or recorded.

The Radio Shacks are installed. I sold most of the others. Why have that huge investment for seemingly no difference?
