Cheap pawn shop finds?

Sign in to disble this ad
Korg pitchblack pedal for $14.99.

I could have talked it down a few bucks, but instead paid the ticket price.

Anybody got any similar finds at the pawn?

Sometimes they don't know what they're selling.

This doesn't have to do with an effect pedal, but my friend got a bunch of his stuff stolen one time and he found one of his guitars in a pawn shop about a week later. The guitar was worth around $2000.....he got it back for less than $200.

One of my best friends dad owns a pawnshop and a about 2 months ago he called me and told me I had to come check out this bass. His dad purchased a beat up '72 Fender Jazz...Cream, black pickguard, maple with black block inlay. The bridge was swapped and the pickups were changed. Regardless, he paid $50.

I have a friend who picked up a '72 Fender Jazz in a pawn shop for $200. He let me borrow it for about a week. It feels great to play, nice neck and low action. However, it has a very dead tone with no brightness like a Jazz from this period. I thought it was just because it had old strings, but he later found that the bass does not have the original pickups. Looks and plays great but sounds bad.

I keep hoping to walk into a pawn shop and find a Deep Impact for peanuts. Probably not in this lifetime.

I got a MIM Fender Jazz Deluxe 5 string with a dead battery for $165. Then traded it to my brother for a '74 Rick 4001 that I had bought in '80 and sold to him in '90.

I got a MIJ Boss DD-3 for $29. Pretty cool. Hopefully I stumble across a '72 Fender for $200.

No disrespect intended or anything, he was lucky to find it again. But did he not have proof of ownership, like the serial number recorded on an insurance policy? He should have been able to get it back without spending anything.
