Cheap Pedals Megathread!

Sign in to disble this ad
Delete this if it has been done before, however i couldn't find anything with "search".

I've seen a few threads pop up now and then asking for "X" pedal on the cheap. I thought it might be nice and helpful to create a nice big thread with cheap, but decent pedal reccomendations. I was hoping to keep this in the sub $100/$150 range for others, like myself, that realistically can not afford $300 for a pedal (even though we recognize it's worth it and would scoop it up in an instant were it possible). So, fire away! Let's try and help eachother out here!!

*I know I may be missing some effect types, just let me know.

**When you reccomend pedals it would be nice to add an approximate price for the pedal New and/or Used.

***Also, i realize that there are TONS of cheap pedals out there... i would like to keep this as cheap but GOOD pedals. It's be nice if you would share personal Pros and Cons as well!

****Don't be afraid to include kits and mods as well!

*****If there is JUST a new price listed; it's pretty safe to assume that a used one would simply be less.

The digitech bad monkey will probably take the overdrive spot.
The EHX Bass Big Muff is a good cheap fuzz.

Im not really into modulation so I have no idea about the rest but I heard boss modulation is usually good for the price.

My DOD FX52 can sound like a good old fashion Muff, without the low end loss. Legit stuff right there for the $20 I paid. Also sounds good on Geetar.

My response from an older thread:

Here's an eight pedal board that I would rock and it would only cost $511 and that's buying most pedals new
Here's that thread:

Tone Shaping/Overdrive/DI box:

Behringer BDI 21. Sounds great. Maybe not quite as good as the sansamp, but at around 30 bucks on ebay, its a great cheap pedal!

I recently added a behringer fx600 that I got on evilbay for about $28.00. Not the best pedal ever, but is good to have a nice array of effects in one pedal should I need them. Chorus, delay, flanger, phaser, and pitch shifter. I also use a EHX Octave Multiplexer, big bass muff and a Morley Bass Wah. Roughly $200 in effects total.

+1 on the Behringer BDI 21. I've seen it compared to the like of the Sansamp around here on a handful of occasions. Good unit for around $30.

Artec

Artec's got a pretty interesting line-up of differrent pedals fairly cheap, but I don't know if they're available in the US.

I would add:
Tuner - Ibanez LU20 $40ish new. True bypass, accurate, metal housing, a little on the big side size-wise but great and cheap

Synth - Digitech Bass synth wah. The synth sounds are not for everyone, but they're good in some settings. I would also add this pedal to the octaver section - it's a great, cheap, digital octave down (so long as you don't need just the octave down - it can't cut out the dry signal).

I saw this and thought, "that's not the used price, that's what they sell for new." But then I realized that they have been discontinued. Bummer. It was a great pedal, especially for $40.

Yeah i know! Luckily though they seem to be pretty common. I know my local used place always seems to have 2 or 3 on hand. You can see that little yellow pedal from a mile away!

Bass Eq

I've got the "Swith Box" and the "Graphic Eq". So far I'm quite pleased with both of them, the Eq is surpricingly quiet for the price tag, AND it's got 8 bands instead of the "common" 7 found on most pedal eq's...
The "Twinhead" sounds like a very interesting pedal to me, but the question is will it be any good for bass?

You need to add the Marshall (e.g. Guv'nor, delay, reverb) and Guyatone (e.g. fuzz, delay) pedals, some of those are really good. Plus there's Biyang and Artec, but not sure how good they are!

Like i said before, I was including pedals that people have had experience with... If you can chime in on specific ones that you've used and do a good job on bass, than i will add them ASAP!
