cheapest box to allow a 2nd input into an amp with 1 channel

What's the simplest/least expensive box that'll allow 2 basses (or a bass and drum machine)to SIMULTANEOUSLY play through a head with a single input channel and no FX loop?
The Radial PZ-Pre can do it in mix mode, but is 300 bucks. Any cheaper options?

I would think that any ABY box would work for that. Just hit the both button.

What's a widely available option that has a "both" setting?

I'm sure there's other options, but the only one that comes to mind is a Boss LS-2. Sweetwater has them new at $85.00 dollars - used on E-Bay is typically $50.00 or so.

You can't get much cheaper than a resistive mixer, here's an example:

I use a cheap 5 channel berhinger mixer to run my MicroKORG to my bass amp simultaneously with my bass.

Loop-Master, Y-Cable, passive mixer or ABC boxe are not recommended. They will generate impedance issues.
As is the case with most parallel signals, you want buffers. Without them you're going to run into problems, especially if one bass is active and the other is passive.
In pedal form, the Boss LS-2 is the cheapest serious product. A Behringer AB100 will be the absolute cheapest.
If you don't need a pedal, a small mixer is your best bet.

It may affect the tone some, but not as much as the effect you'll have from running a drum machine through a bass rig or playing 2 basses at once through an amp. He's looking for the cheapest way, and a y-cable is the cheapest.

or you could wire up two of these powered by a 9V
