checked out the pedalflanger and ada finalphase

While I was in Edmonton for almost 3 weeks I went to Avenue Guitars and tried out the Chicago Iron Pedalflanger and the ADA FinalPhase.

First thoughts: ADA I dont like the distortion sound. The phase section is airy and liquidy and doesnt kill the low end as it sweeps like other phasers. The distortion is murky at best on bass. You would be better off getting something like a quasar and run that after your fav fuzz.

Pedalflanger, I know the attitude towards chicagoiron, but the pedalflanger does sound GREAT on bass. Its just a HUGE pedal that takes up way too much room. The typical "thin" flanging sound from other pedals is not here, this is a much thicker flanger and the sweep can get a little more extreme. My fav flanger was the older yellow Ibanez. This sounds better, its thicker and wierder. But you can still use it in a mix/live setting. The pice is insane though.
