Hey guys, Im thinking about getting a chorus single stomp. Should I roll with a Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus or the Electro-Harmonix Small Clone? How does the EHX pedal handle the low frequencies?
I can get both for the same price. All input is appreciated
Cheers!

The CEB-3 is bass-specific, whereas the Small Clone is not, but I have used my CEB-3 on my acoustic-electric guitar to nice effect too.

Anyone else have input if it looses bass?

The CEB-3 will give you that cold 80's chorus sound. The Small Clone is more of a watery, warbley, Nirvana-esque chorus. I have owned both and they're both very good, so it really depends on which chorus tone you're after. Also, as was already mentioned, if you go for the Small Clone, make sure its the old sheet metal version, and not the newer nano. The nano clone has some big flaws. |

I found the CEB-3 to be too cold/subtle. I haven't tried the small clone but I have heard good things about it (not so for the nano clone, though).

One thing I want to add is that the Small Clone only has two settings for the depth of the chorus effect, which I found rather restrictive. I ended up using the higher modulation depth most of the time, because the low setting was always too subtle. |
