Sure it can. you can also try the boss odb-3 with a danelectro chorus pedal(fab chorus or the cool cat cc1 chorus). I've tried a digitech xbd bass overdrive/distortion pedal with a danelectro fab chorus pedal and it sounded awesome. combining distortion with chorus can give you a grungy but heavy sound. if you want an example on how distortion sounds with chorus, check out this clip.
