Chorus Grudge Match: Ibanez CS-9 vs. Analogman

Sign in to disble this ad
I've recorded what I think are comparable settings on the Ibanez CS-9 and the Analogman Bi-Chorus. The Analogman is set on "normal," though is has a switch for thinner and fatter depth settings. The order is dry, Ibanez, Analogman, until the end (at about 1:17), where I demonstrate how much faster the Analogman can warble than the Ibanez. For that demonstration, it's Analogman first, then the Ibanez. (I didn't dime the Bi-Chorus's speed, though I did dime the CS-9.)

I really like the CS-9, but as is apparent with the demos, the Analogman allows more bass.

And here's the link. The particular track is titled "chorus demo."

The Analogman, did you run it at 18v? And why didn't you use the Deep Setting? Makes a significant difference for bass usage. Using BOTH of these elements are how to set-up this particular chorus for bass. If you haven't, this demo is really meaningless IMHO as you really didn't show the true capability and potential of the Analogman for bassists. I'm not familiar with the CS-9 so don't know if there are similar things you can do with it to optimize for bass usage.

I had both of these and found the CS-9 to be way to subtle, it was nice but not in the same league as the Analogman.

Does you analogman have the deep setting?
