Chorus noise...

I recently dug up my danelectro cool cat chorus pedal(18v). I plugged it in and I keep getting a slight static noise that I can hear. Anyone have any clue what it is?

A chorus. Most choruses have a bit of noise.

I own one of those exceptions.

But yeah, most choruses aren't going to be dead-silent, especially if they're using BBD (Bucket Brigade) chips. While very popular for chorus and delay use for the quality of sound, they're not the most quiet of circuit components.

Don't quote me on this, but my limited experience with digital chorus pedals has tended to be a noise-free experience. So if the noise really bugs you... that's an option to look into. But even some digital pedals can be quite noisy... so beware.

You might be making a bigger deal out of the noise than it really is. Of course, it's up to you to decide if it's an issue.

In response to above. It is definitely not a normal noise you get out of a chorus. It sounds like something is messed up with the pedal. I remember when I used last year I never got that type of noise. I guess Ill have to replace. Anyone want a cool cat?

Hmm... maybe it's an issue with an input or output jack?
