circuit bent digiverb...

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I came across this on youtube:

link to Youtube of circuit bent digiverb

anyone know how to either do this to a digiverb, or another piece of gear that does anything similiar (overly ridiculous reverse reverb)?

Circuit bending is hella simple. You pop the lid, reach in, and make random circuit connections with your fingertips until you hear something interesting. Then if you want to repeat a certain bend, you find the spot(s) that your fingers were touching and put in some wires or metal pins at those points for easy access.

It's the same for any piece of electronic gear. Just watch out for the power supply lines, and large capacitors.

Sure, but any other processor will have different bending points, so you're essentially hoping the person who has made that specific bend to that specific processor happens to be reading this forum.

"swapped the led out for a high-powered white one. in the process, something ****ed up. everything has reverse"

maybe the led is just in the reverse position?

Possibly, but really I was hoping someone would watch the vid and go "ooh, that sounds like a ________"... thus the second half of my question in the OP. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

Most Lexicon verb units have a reverse verb.

Well, the Hardwire Reverb pedal is supposed to use Lexicon algorithms, too.

But I'm sure you already knew that.

You can take the bongo out of California, but you can't take the California out of the bongo.

I'm just afraid that someone (me) will electrocute himself while trying to circuit bend all of his pedals, now.

The same as the audio traces.

One thing you can do is take a Sharpie (a red one will show up best) and draw along the traces leading from the power supply. Then avoid touching the red ones.

That sounds pretty stinking cool, but can anyone tell what instrument he's actually playing? It sounds like an organ, but I would assume that it's a guitar.

And the pedal should be unplugged, right?

Well, you could unplug it while marking the power traces, but the device has to be powered up in order to do the bending.

Yup, use a 9V rather than a power supply, much safer.

But technically, I don't have to, right?

Would it be alright to try this in the tub?
