I picked this up from a kid on Craigslist yesterday. He used it with a guitar through a 10A Crate combo and couldn't figure out why it sounded so bad. All I had to do was take it apart and clean the pots and she works perfectly. Oh Yeah, I only paid $25 for it.

I doesn't track chords though, at least in the lower registers. I love it so far.

In the future, folks looking for Meatbox info will be able to stumble across it here.
A 'lost manuals' thread would be cool too. Only problem would be that over time, some people break the link to their Photobucket or Flickr account, and then you lose the pic.

Originally Posted by fenderhutz Wow I remember how bad these things sounded when they were new, are they collectors items now? | Sorry you feel that way. I'm new to effects, its my second pedal, and I'm having fun with it. I've read that these were harder to find and somewhat desired, so I figured I couldn't go wrong for $25. I don't really think we'll have a long relationship together, but I'll use it to learn and sell it to someone else. From what I've read on the effects forum, this isn't an uncommon practice among effects users. I have found that it is useful for my needs in many situations in the current band I'm in. So I'm not really sure yet.

I don't think I ever even plugged it in. When I moved to Portland, one of my friends who is a "noise" musician mentioned the Meatbox and how he wished he could afford one (they can sell for some big money on Ebay). I called up the new occupant of my old room in Denver to try to get my doorstop back but she had never seen it- my guess is that one of the punk kids that moved in started using it as a distortion or something (=blown speakers!) I would have just given it to my friend. I'm kinda glad I never tried to fool around with it when I had it for the sake of my speakers!
