Clean blend mod?

I tried a guitarist friend's rat the other day, and i actually really liked the sound on bass, except the low end loss. I've been looking for a clone to build from a kit for a while, and this seems perfect, so my question (finally) is how easy would it be to add a wet/dry blend to a kit, most likely this one? I assume it's just a matter of wiring a pot a certain way, but how easy would it be with the pcb?

you'd need to add a buffer to the circuit or else you'll end up with a nice feedback loop going on.

See, this is why I asked, any advice on opamps to use for that schem?

If you were to add this circuit directly to another circuit on the same board, could you simply transpose the effect circuit in between the send/return loop?

Yeah, I mean "transpose" isn't quite the word, but that's the right idea.

That is definitely the right word I wanted in terms of circuit design. Simply take the In/Out of the effect circuit and connecting it to the send/return of the blender. I personally do not see why it wouldn't work save some possible impedance issues that could pop up.

It will work, I was agreeing with that point. "Transpose" means "switch places".

I'm thinking now my best bet is just to get a cheap used rat and mod that, would it be easier to add a blend circuit to the pedal, or just build a seperate blender? Ideally i'd like to add it to the pedal as i'm not fussed about blending my other effects and space is a factor

I haven't read into the rat circuit but couldn't you just put bigger input/output caps in there to retain the lows.

Im personally not fond on blend controlls because they tend to sound like your playing two instruments and one of the two just gets drowned in the mix and the other one is your clean which does get heard but then there's no reason for the effect anyway. This is not totally true and some blends are better than others but they are just not to my taste.

The lack of lows in the circuit can also be caused by other components so it might not work. If you try it please share the results

Building a separate blender all-together would be your best bet unless you are hell-bent on keeping the rat and blender as one in which case you'd have to rehouse the pedal and create a whole new PCB. There are quite a few components to the blender to which you could not float off a board meaning you couldn't just float above the rat's board.
