Is bass distortion a new concept or something? I don't mean the Boss ODB-3 style distortion that accentuates roundwound 'zing' with some rumbly stuff thrown in, I mean a fuller 'Marshall' distortion.
That Cheech guy is Bobby Vega one of baddest ever.....Just sayin

I'll never play without a clean blend again if there are effects involved ... makes a huge difference & not just with dirt or fuzz.

The LS-2 is def a lot of bang for the buck but the Badger Schism is butter! & the phase switch is very handy.

Surprised me the difference when you A/B the phase ... more or less impact depending on the order of the chain & type of effect.

In a perfect world using a separate amp for effects would be best .... but a real pain to lug all that gear if you play a lot & don't have roadies.

Your just a Poser if you don't use a clean blend!

I have come to prefer pedals with separate clean and OD/distortion/fuzz level controls, like the Sparkle Drive and TAFM. For the TAFM I set the clean signal with the fuzz entirely off to exactly match my clean level, then add fuzz around it, definitely enjoying how that carries. With the SD it's much more subtle so more of a truly blended thing. Check out possible bass mods for TS that can be applied to SD, I have not done that but others have and really like what it does for the SD.

Hey I have an idea, and maybe my TB friends can tell me if there are any flaws.

Rickenbacker stereo outs; Neck pickup goes to amp1, bridge pickup goes to amp2 which has interesting toys in the effects loop. It's no extra equipment; I run 2x 8 ohm cabs anyway, and I bring a backup micro amphead anyway. I could just give one cab to each head.

Then the pickup volume controls on the bass give you the blend.

Good idea? Bad idea?

Worked for Bootsy, although his original star bass had 4 pups and 4 sends- or was it 5 pups and 5 sends? Lol, anyway some were clean, and others were routed through effects. It would probably sound killer.

Try the FEA Labs 2 Channel Mixer:

Great solution for having a clean blend... And the variable phase adjustment is superior to a simple phase 'switch'.
