I will buy a Dynacomp from MXR. Is the pedal good to play with a tone like Cliff Burton's tone ?

I think we can all agree that you need the Russian built MXR Dynacomp for the CB tone.

A serious answer:

Appearantly Cliff Burton used a BOSS CS-2 Compression Sustainer. Although it beats me how and why he used it.

The current BOSS CS-3 Compression Sustainer pedal is not that big a difference from the CS-2. (The CS-1 is an entirely different animal.)

As for the Dynacomp... I kinda like it... but mostly on guitar. I tried it on bass, not suited for me.
It tends to distort the signal a little bit... it's a bit noisier. With my gear anyway.

Otherwise, I don't think there is a specific must-have pedal if you like Cliff Burton's sound.
The BOSS CS-3 is cheap, and I like it a whole lot on bass. It's not perfect though. (So for perfection I got a Maxon compressor.)

I think if you do a search you should find plenty of info on getting that cilff tone. I do think a fuzz and tube amp are essential for his tone.

Use guitar pedals instead of bass pedals, thats what made Cliff's tone the way it was.

Oh and his fingers...

I think most people don't get that, as much as people say oh its just his guitar fuzz and wah and what not, alot of his sound comes from his fingers too... look at ANY of the cliff em all stuff and you can just see that he has his own unique way of using them... oh and I'm pretty sure headbanging OUT of time has something to do with his tone too

best example I can find!
