clip of bass-modded Fuchs Plush Valve Job pedal

Fuchs makes the "Plush Valve Job" as a guitar OD, using three different types of clipping (12AX7 tube, diodes, and opamp) to get a very rich and touch-sensitive drive sound. It has OK low end as-is, but I decided to mod it for serious low end, and the results are very pleasing to me! I have been talking with Fuchs, and they are seriously considering making the bass version a regular production item. If you like the sounds in the clip, email Fuchs and let them know you're interested. One other nice thing about this pedal is it takes regular Boss-type 9VDC, and I've had no trouble running it off a Godlyke Powerall with other pedals.

Sounds interesting. What bass and recording setup are you using? I'd love to hear more clips if you have the time to make them as I like the H&K Tube Factor that I am playing around with, but not so much its awkward shape/size and power requirements.
I might be interested in getting one if/when I am finished playing around with all the overdrive pedals that I have lying around. However, it's pretty awesome that they are considering making a bass version.

Sounds REALLY good! I like the dynamic sensitivity (good job highlighting that!). It sounds like it is very quiet (no hiss?). It doe get a little 'farty' with the really low notes, though.

There is zero noise, actually, which I forgot to mention is one of my favorite aspects of it. Any noise in that clip comes from the recording gear, not the pedal. It does get kinda farty during heavy clipping on the low notes, but it's quite solid when not clipping so much. I'll record another clip where I'm playing more consistently, at a dirt level I'd normally choose.

No idea about the price at this time. Shouldn't cost more though, since it's just a question of swapping six components.

Bring it Bongo! That first clip was a really good demo, though. I think it's a nice change to see a positive review that also demonstrates the less-than-desirable qualities as well!

So many reviews boil down to little more than "it's the best ever", or "it sux the wurst ever". It's rarer than rare to find a device that is 100% perfect. Hearing the Fuchs sound so dynamic & sweet over 90% of the frequency range and sounding crappy for 10% seems like more honest reporting.

Still, I'd like more clips. I'm always on the lookout for yet another cool overdrive!

Hey guys a solid state and tube version of this pedal may become available down the line.
We appreciate Bongo's assistance, and will keep the forum posted ! Forgive me if I don't respond quickly, for some reason I don't get notifications from here.

I eagerly anticipate some cool new bass overdrives on the market. Thanks for being one of the pedal manufacturers who is actually willing to cater to us bassists!
