Clips Request Thread (for da Wiki)

Sign in to disble this ad
A couple things I was just thinking about:

(1) Requests for soundclips of certain pedals come in fairly often. Maybe it would be convenient to gather them up in one thread.

(2) There are a number of pedals that have soundclips made but never made their way into the Wiki. The Polish Love is one example.

(3) I'm willing (within reason) to make clips of any of my pedals or combination of pedals. Hopefully others are willing to do the same.

I think the Effects Database in the Wiki is a pretty useful tool to have and could be greatly expanded without too much effort.

hey. this is a great idea. There are tons of pedals that i would like to get info on, but the wiki does not have them. The Line 6 Verbzilla, and Digitech Bass Multi Chorus are just 2 examples.

Good idea BigO
1.) Supercollider(i know they have examples on their site/myspace but they arent that good IMO)
2.) Supercollider Oscillating Beast
3.) Colorsound Tonebender Fuzz AND Bass Fuzz

Edit, there IS a Tonebender clip but it doesnt specify which one, so Im assuming its just the regular Tonebender Fuzz. My mistake.

I'm pretty sure there's a statute of limitations on editing posts, so this won't work forever, but I think I'll use this post to list pedals that have been requested, and then delete them if clips are done.

Line 6 Verbzilla
Digitech Bass Multi Chorus
Earthbound Supercollider (and Supercollider Oscillating Beast)
human gear animato (paging Kaputsport)
Tech 21 VT Bass
More phasers
EHX Bass Micro Synth (with each function soloed)
Korg G5
Octavius Squeezer

I'll add others as suggestions come in.

this is my demo clip of the Bogdan Helter Skelter/Polish Love OD http://media.putfile.com/polish-love

i am going to try it adding it to the wiki but i might just screw it all up so thought i'd rather first post here :P

edit: dang! this proves my disability with computers and wiki and hyperlinks and what not anyway i can try putting all the clips together so that some else can put in on the wiki for this pedal

What would be cool, is if we had a bunch of clean clips from a fairly standard bass, say a jazz or p, and then one could download the clips, burn on a cd, and then run the cd thru each pedal and record that ..

Say some groove, some slap, some pick, etc. and about 4-5 variations in total...

Now that would be a clip database from ****!!

Yeah, it would be cool to see consistency (a big part of why I like grygrx's reviews) but even if this was feasible, the recording method would still introduce a lot of differences in sound.

Personally, all I really want from a clip (other than reasonably discernible audio) is a bit of clean bass at the beginning or a separate clip for reference. I don't know how many dirt boxes have sounded completely awesome on demo clips/vids only to find out they were running it through a massive tube amp to get that sound.

If I can at least hear the clean bass, then I can extrapolate what is being done to the tone and how it might work with my setup.

Well, every pedal reviewer, had to first record the clean clip for say 12 bars, then the next 12 bars with the FX on, basically, a 12 bar clip that is copied up in 24 bars would be all that's needed, one per "variation" that is...

Then it'd be easy to hear how the pedal actually affect the recorded material in comparison to the "clean" material.

the only problem is that in order for people to be able to run prerecorded bass through pedals, one would have to have a ReAmp box, to convert line level/impedance back down to instrument level/impedance...

i should make some clips, too.

It might be a couple days, but right now all I have is

Maxon PH-350
Pigtronix EP-1
DOD 490
DOD 595

and if I decide to keep it - Mutron Phasor II

I can make clips for those if you want.

Just put all the BFJE Bluberry Bass Overdrive clips I did for this thread in the wiki -
The Many faces of BFJE Blueberry (Tons of Clips)

I'm happy to do more of the pedals I have.

I would really like to hear clips of the EHX BMS but just doing it's various discreet functions. Like: just the square wave (maybe with a big muff comparison), or filter sweep set up/down/wide/narrow/fast/slow, maybe the octaves to compare with the Pog. It may be somewhat limited as a multi effect but I'm curious.

What's the best site to upload clips to? I used to use mp3space.com as it ruled, but now it's disappeared, making my DHA VT2 Wiki clips redundant.

Putfile.com is slow and flaky, Soundclick has a cruddy 128 Kb/s bitrate limit...

I'll do my whole board one day... Humphrey modded Bad Monkey, Supercollider (have the original, but the Beast is on it's way!), Tonefactor 442 / Boomstick Bottom Feeder, VT Bass, Diamond Compressor, EHX Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai.

Anyone want to hear clips of my Korg Pitchblack?!

Octavius Sqeezer (of course)
Korg G5 (I would have sworn there were clips before, but alas, I couldn't find them)

I know there are more...

I hope you do. A few of your pedals (Moog Low Pass, Wooly Mammoth, Bug Crusher) either don't exist in the Wiki at all or could benefit from a few more clips.

As a side note, I'd love to hear more of your stuff in combination with explanations of how you get the sounds you do. I play very different stuff and therefore use effects differently, but I really dig your stuff.
