people posting in that thread turned it political, no comments on the pedal itself

I'll try to do a review of this pedal as soon as I'm physical able to.
Not a bad pedal, but the most favourable Big John is the Hairy Balls IMO.

Well done for designing a pedal that it's forbidden to discuss!

Ya really. I'm a big fan of your pedals, but that may not have been the best idea from a business standpoint.

Eh, I would get it if it had an expression control for the wah frequency.

dont you guys know that it's the trend nowadays to use politically incorrect gimmicks to sell stuff?

i'm sure those pop stars really 'suffer' from those scandals that they always seem to be 'unfortunate' enough to find themselves in.

but why penalise the thread when it is the individuals who abuse it?

True. Big John does stuff like that with his other pedals (Hairy Balls and Granny Puker). I must admit, it does make his pedals stand out.

Plus, I bet Obama is not as controversial in Belgium as he is over here

You're right! Obama in Belgium is not as controversial as in the States...
For me this is MUSIC related! and has nothing to do with politics...
I just try to find some funny names for my effects...
Maybe I had to call it the OSAMA WAH?

Anyway, thanks a lot for your support guys! Great forum...

˛nd that about the funny names :')

My mom gave me a frown when she first noticed my Granny Puker ... Loved that moment!

Well, I reckon Obama is quite a controversial topic in the States right now with the whole health care thing going on...

but for us Europeans, it's just something we read in the papers or vaguely hear about on television. No actual debates or disputes going on here concerning that matter...

Regardless of your political leanings, I think we can all agree this is absolutely true

And kudos to Big John for having the only bass demo of a fixed wah on the internet (that I know of anyway).

So the only way this guy could sell his pedal was by slapping the President's name on it?
Lame.

Wonder how long it will take before he receives a cease and desist order.

The word Obama is not owned by the president. It's been around long before he was around. I could see there being a case if he was using a photo likeness of the president to try and sell the pedals, but using just the word Obama can't get him in any kind of trouble.

Unless you send him one, I'll wager a "never".

Well, that's like, just your opinion, man. /lebowski

The answer is that US caselaw is still unclear about what the limits are with using likenesses or names of politicians in the US. No one has ever bothered to follow a suit until its settled. Being in Belgium, I doubt it's an issue.

Well, since only Americans (and only half, or so, at that) would automatically assume it was "bad" or an insult in some way, I doubt it would bother the pres too bad that a European named some music equipment after him. He might think it's pretty cool, who knows... I think it's pretty swell, although, being in Oklahoma I'm not sure what kind of reception I'd get.

By the way, I'm just speaking to the facts, not sharing or bashing an opinion... I don't really have a dog in this fight.
