Colon distortion? Anyone ever heard of it?

Has anyone ever heard of a Colon distortion pedal? I was on a Cure fansite and it had that listed under Simon Gallup's effects in 1980 & 1981 along with an EHX flanger. It sparked my curiosity as I'm a HUGE Cure fan and love the really old bootlegs, and have never heard of this particular brand of effect, couldn't find a pic either.

Google & TB searches got me nothing.

Or could maybe Colon be a typo and it's something different and closely named? Anyone know of something like that?


This is so off topic, but what exactly does something like the BOSS NS-2 (noise suppressor) do? I saw a picture of one of Mark Hoppus' "board" and the only other things on it are a fulltone bassdrive and what looks like a power supply thing. So I'm wondering what it's purpose is. I watched like two demos on youtube and I couldn't hear a difference when it was on or off.

Never heard of Colon but I've seen Coron pedals that were pretty much copies of the MXR line; Coron Distortion = MXR Distortion +, maybe?

Yep. Probably that. Thanks so much, just did a quick google search, they even look like MXR pedals! and from what I've found they were around in 1981. Damn websites and their typos.

Coron was the first thing that sprang to mind as well. I have an old chorus that's identical the the white overdrive in this picture but in blue.



Sadly, mine is out of commission. Too bad, it didn't sound too shabby.
