Comparing Boss DD-6 and DD-7

Sign in to disble this ad
Trying to decide between the DD-6 and DD-7. I think I'll probably shoot for the DD-6 just because I've seen some nice deals on eBay, however I figured I'd ask the advice of TB before droppin change on it.

I really like the idea of the 'Hold' mode to work as a mini-looper. This is one of the biggest selling points of these pedals for me. I think theres a different max loop time between the 2, but is it really that functionally different?

Also, how do the effect functions work on both? Anybody use both and have a favorite?

If you value an easy-to-use tap tempo function, go with the DD7 since it has a jack for an external tap tempo switch so you don't have to hold the main pedal switch down for 2 seconds.

DD-6 can hold a little over 5 seconds; DD-7 can hold 40 seconds. That's an appreciable difference, I'd say! It's annoying not to have enough time with a looper.

Also the DD-7 Reverse mode can go 100% wet so you only hear the reversed playing; I understand the DD-6 can't do this. And of course the DD-7 has Analog and Modulation modes that people are saying great things about.

There's a reason you're seeing a lot of DD-6s for sale cheap!

Yeah, sounds like DD-7 is the way to go. I probably could get by with the DD-6, but I'd be kicking myself later.
