Compressor for E-bow

Sign in to disble this ad
First-time poster, long-time lurker. Love the board. Hi.

I need a stomp-box compressor to smooth out the sometimes unpredictable volume spikes I get when using ebow with bass.

I don't really like using a compressor when I play, so this would be almost exclusively for ebow use. Added bonus: effective with guitar. More musical data:

Style: post-rock art nonsense

Gear: Rickenbacker 4003, big muff, zvex woolly mammoth, old boss bass chorus, loop station, Ibanez AD-9, re-201 space echo, fender bassman 100 w 4x12

'Don'ts': slap/pop, palm mute, eye contact

Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers!

Boss CS-3 modded for bass (see my reviews page for details). Strong compression ratio for leveling of intense peaks and increased sustain, nice bright highs for use with guitar.

Excellent. Thanks for the tip!

What do other bassists use? Any opinions on the new Black Finger?

Also, a quick querry (and mad props!) for Bongomania, Compressor impressario and font-of-all-squishy-knowledge: do the mods you describe in the following article represent a complete project, i.e. do you need to buy a "Humphry modded" CS3 and then do the mods you describe, or can you use a stock cs3?
http://www.ev-b.com/cs3modding.html

Thanks!

The mods described are the complete mod from a stock unit. It's basically just the Humphrey mod plus a larger input cap, although I may also have changed the cap value of the tone knob, I actually don't remember ATM.
