Compressor and EQ

I recently got a DBX 266XL compressor and have a question regarding putting it into my rack. I have an eq also and am wondering if I should go from amp > eq > compressor > amp or run it as amp > compressor > eq > amp. It may be a silly question but I just want to be sure.

Not sure, but I think I would EQ first. Give the compressor everything you want it to compress is my philosophy. Supposing you compressed and then bumped some frequencies way up on the EQ....what came out might not be as controlled as you hoped.
