Right now I have a TC Electronics Vintage Compressor, but that pedal never really gets extreme in compression.

Which pedal does?

Actually the TC will get very extreme if you feed it a stronger input signal. However you would probably really like the Jacques Fat Burner. Check the reviews page linked in my sig for more info and other suggestions.

Maybe weird, but I like the compression knob on the Ampeg SVT PRO 4 in the Ampeg SVX software.
Do you happen to know a pedal which gives some similar compression?

I wonder, can the Fat Burner approach the Compulator? I'm assuming the Compulator can't quite do what the Fat Burner can do.

It is possible to set the Fat Burner for non-extreme compression and low noise, but not to the degree of quietness and naturalness that the Demeter can do. It is possible to get the Demeter to compress pretty intensely, but not to the extent (or with the character) of the FB.

I've never tried any software compressors yet, and TBH it's not likely to happen soon as it will be at least a year before I buy a new computer.

Bongo, the contents of your sig should be stickied to the effects forum (even your amazing dog! ), compression is probably the most common subject of discussion around these parts.

Actually the megathread is stickied in the FAQ, and I post so damn much in here that it's like I'm a sticky myself. Thanks though!
