Compressor Issue

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys, first post, though I've been lurking for a long time.

Here is my issue:

I picked up a DBX 262 (rack mounted comp), I have a decently long chain of effects, and use a Schecter 004 (active EQ/ Passive p/u's). When I try to chain the compressor directly to the bass, before the effects loop/amp/etc, it does not drive a hot enough signal to properly push the compressor.

As of now, I have it plugged directly into the effects loop of my 1001 RB II, but it is not where I want it.

My application is intended to pacify my picking technique when playing very fast or just heavy as I get though the set, not to tone any of the effects, because I only use them for certain intro's/outro's/solo's.

Which all leads up to my question, of what is the solution? A DI box/precomp like an MX-80? I have a DO on the new head, so I was hoping to avoid adding something else to the chain.

I use a PS-45 pedal board right now, if that helps anyone figure out cable routing options.

Thanks for any help.

Racks are meant to operate at signal level, ie in the effet loop.
If you want to use a compressor at instrument level, get a pedal.
