Hello Talk bass players... just wondering if... actually I'd like to get some feedback from anyone who's interested in expressing thoughts on bass compressor pedals. I am at this point trying to decide on choosing between the Joe Meek FloorQ and the Humphrey Audio ultra Bass Smasher. If anyone besides Bongamania has had some usage time with these pedals or other bass compressor pedals PLEASE LET me KNOW what you think. I appreciate it of course, heck I really appreciate the concept of this website!! Note: I googled The Humphrey Audio bass smasher and... not very much info on it...? |

I can get the Joe Meek for a very good good price and you are absolutely right about it's versatility! the size of the FloorQ is a bit large but it will fit on my pedalboard just the same. "Bomgomania" I really like your review on the Exar bass compressor and that you're basically a dealer... so I'm holding that thought too...
Cool...

I was hoping I would get some info on users thoughts of the Humphrey Audio Bass modded CS-3 because of the Level, Attack and Tone knobs and there is ample room on my pedalboard for smaller boss type pedals which, to me is something to consider... it would be nice to get some more of you users to chime in... and Yes Bongomania is off the hook with his extensive reviews....

And ya know what works great after the LMB-3? A germ-o.d.-modded Metal Zone, which lots of modders offer. It gives just a bit of tube bite (not dirt) and has the built-in shelving & parametric (mid-scoop) eq. The pair are MUCH more versatile overall than just a modded comp pedal imo. Ya know I read somewhere that at least one modder uses germ trannies in their CS-3 mods, which is good (even Pigtronix is trying this now, with the parallel option too), but you're still short the eq....
One other thing I'd still like to try is a JoeMeek to get more "bwomp" in the attack like Geddy Lee. Hey Bongo, have you tried the JoeMeek ThreeQ? Does it have the same comp as the FloorQ/MC2? (The ThreeQ shows-up used more than the other two.)

But I say you should also wait and see about the new MXR Bass Compressor coming out soon. I'm interested, even though I LOVE my TLC.
