Compressor Pedal or Volume Pedal Recommendations?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all! I was wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a compressor pedal and a volume pedal. I'm not sure what I would get as far as a volume pedal goes. I was looking at a EBS MultiComp as a compressor. Any opinions on that? For the volume pedal, are they all not true by-pass (digital)? Any recommendations would be a great help!

Thanks in advance

D

I have no idea what you are trying to ask. Try again?

EBS? You can't go wrong, really!

Volume pedals - most lean towards the Ernie Ball VP Jr range. The Ernie Ball website has a great FAQ section that should answer most of your other queries.

EB's are all passive, and I've never seen a volume pedal with a bypass switch!

I hope I haven't confused anyone here. If so, I'm sorry! I was interested if the volume pedal would affect my bass tone with the bass going through the volume pedal. I'm assuming it does because it controls a volume with a pedal but hey, who knows, figured I would ask you know I like to do some volume swells in songs as an intro and it gets pretty annoying doing it with the knob (and with the pots getting dirty rather quickly in my opinion).

bongomania, on your site, you've mentioned that the EBS rolls off on the highs, is that roll off very noticable? I'm leaning towards the demeter because of that. It's bad enough that the Shure ULXS KILLS my highs and having that on top of the shure will leave me with no highs! lol. I also like the fact that the Demeter is only 2 knobs, which is nice. Not much hassle to play around with.

Thanks for all of the replies guys

It's not that the EBS rolls off a lot of the highs, but it does lose a little. If you like your highs then there are a lot of options, but the Demeter and the T-Rex Comp-Nova are the first two I'd suggest.

Do you really need a volume pedal for volume swells. Surely with good pickups and a musical guitard, such an effect can be achieved through your fingers.

Anything in your signal path will affect your signal. But I find that the affect is often overstated on the internet. Chances are, you will hardly notice the difference. Try it for yourself before condemning a pedal based on what you've read on the internet!
