Compressor questions

Sign in to disble this ad
I am reading the manual of my DBX 160A compressor. The application that recomends when refering to bass guitar is a ratio of 4.1 and the threshold control for 10dbu to 12 dbu of gain reduction. The dbx threshold has negative Dbus and posittive Dbus (from -40 dbu to +20 dbu).

When I use the threshold with possitive dbu all the signals pass trough the dbx unprocessed (green light below led on)

I have 2 questions

When the manual says threshold control for 10 dbu to 12 dbu of gain reduction, it means to use the threshold in -10 to -12 dbu (negative dbu)????

Moreover I want to get more gain reduction than imput/output level.
I want the level to be always negative.
I saw a pro using the compressor this way.

How can I get this?

We need a bat-signal for Bongomania.

I'm pretty sure that putting "compressor" in the title is the bat-signal for Bongo.
