Compressor recomendation

I have been producing various percussive sounds on the electric upright while I play a bass line:

I don't like to use compression on upright in general but with this particular technique I want to try to keep the various tones balanced and protect my speakers from overload.

I have an MXR bass compressor that I might try. Should I just use a limiter setting?

If you're playing extra percussively on a double bass I'd recommend the Analog.Man Bi-Comprosser peddle though just the right (Orange Juicer) side. It's used by a lot of Stick players and bassists that really push the attack of their approach. Give her 18v and you'll be in Gruvean!
