Compressor for Tube+Sealed

Seeing as there is a such a large range of 'good' compressors out there I thought I'd ask the experts on which one is right for me. Need to know information is Squier Vintage Modified P and Squier Active Jazz 5 through a 300watt all tube head into a hartke XL810.

The head doesn't have a compressor and I am missing having it, even though i use it sparingly. The pair of Aphex pedals look interesting and are decently priced, any thoughts?

Check the reviews page linked in my sig for some opinions. What's your maximum that you'd pay, and exactly what sort of compression are you missing- what words would you use to describe what you want the compressor to do?

I'm willing to pay up to $400AU for a compressor, pedal preferably but i can handle a rack unit. I've been using a behringer limiter enhancer just to see if i wanted a compressor or not, it gives me a bit more punch and tightens up the bottom end a bit too.

Is the ashdown dual band compressor worth a try?

i reckon the ashdow pedals are a real good worth for the money. this is coming from new zealand, where the market is nowhere close to what they ave in the states. but ashdown compressors are definately nice.

sadly their built in ones in their heads arent the same

I don't know about the pricing/availability down there, but on a tight budget I'd rather pay for a BBE Opto-Stomp than be given an Ashdown for free. However $400 AUD should be able to buy you any of my "top recommendations" on my reviews page.

The ashdown effects pedals? TRY BEFORE YOU BUY, my friend. Those sell for real cheap for a reason IMO.
