I've learnt about pretty much every pedal that is in production at the moment from you guys over the last year. And i've tried a fair few of different pedals from different brands. |

For example - I chose "I'm familiar with the majority of the varietals, but really know a lot about one"
because while I've heard and tried and examined many many types and models of effects,
I've been designing and modding mostly OD/DIST/FUZZ pedals specifically Muffs and full range fuzzes - so I'd say my knowledge there is pretty commanding.

I have never owned any wine ? in gawd 20 years of drinking
I keep meaning too though .. I guess to keep with the food/drink theme .. I'm always too busy with the cake to bother with the icing
actually I'd really like a looper and I'm in investigation mode still .. but I kinda see that more as a tool rather than an effect oh no I said the E word

Maybe I got too "heady" with this one. It seemed the perfect analogy.
The newbie, who has played with some effects, thinks they are neat, but had no real level of experiance.
The dabbler, who has explored a little more. Tried the bulk of 'types' and started to develop a taste for things from a position of knowledge. Has probably read the basics about the technical differences between effects .
The commited, who has tried every type of effect and has found one (or two) that really call to them. In those areas, they have owned many examples, and have tired or demoed dozens of pedals. May have some detailed technical knowledge about the differences between effects from both a theory (what is the wave doing) and/or the technical (how does this circuit work). Person can often identify effects used when listening to songs, and might be able to pick out specific pedals in their area of expertise... "oh he is using a big muff there, or listen to that wooly mammoth... it's so distictive"
The master, has owned dozens of nearly every type of effect. Has an valuable opinion in any discussion, and is likely able to discern and disect layered effects used in songs. May have advanced technical knowledge from either a theory or enginnering skills. |

| | Wraggotry in Motion | | Join Date: Nov 2002 Location: Perth, Australia | | | I work in a liquor store. I know enough to be able to upsell just about anyone who walks in the door. I also know what I like, and I have expensive taste.
EDIT:
I got the analogy, but ignored it because no one else seemed to get it and I figured perhaps I was missing something. That said, my answer remains pretty much unchanged. I work in a music store, too, though I only teach there - no need to upsell anyone. I know what I like, and I have expensive taste (though not as expensive as some).
