Control software presets with DIY footswitch?

Sign in to disble this ad
Since my audio to midi idea is not panning out, I decided to start a new thread and ask-
Is anyone doing/know how to switch presets on a computer app with a footswitch for live playing? Besides spending another $1000 on a Stomp I/O.

I am basically playing my bass guitar using Logic Pro 8 with Amplitube and Ampeg SVX on two tracks of Logic, in real time and I would like to switch presets and mute tracks while playing live without always having to use the mouse or trackpad.

I remember an old guitar playing friend of mine in Detroit that actually has a patent on using a midi rf unit on his guitar for switching that he designed a long time ago. That might somehow work for the same thing I am seeking here. Haven't seen him for many years. Is there a way to have midi controlling the preset selections, etc? Sorry if that has been already posted/discussed. I am researching as I ask here hoping someone can shed some light on the subject and save me time while searching for the info.

Either the Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller, which can be had for about $100.

Even cheaper- Get a cheap usb keyboard, rip off all the keys you aren't going to use, and set up a few presets on each corner (keyboard shortcuts to perform the function you want, ie Play, Record, Stop, loop, etc) and throw it on the ground- Just don't stomp too hard!

But will midi (probably CC coomands?) switch the vst plugins inside Amplitube/AmpegSVX and the mutes on Logic Pro 8 tracks? Iguess it might be in the automation, if any, of parameters.

It's not foot controlled but it is wireless and easy to use.

They also make a microphone stand adapter for it to make it easy to access.
