controlling a boss dr880 with rocktron midi mate using the midi port

i want to be able to change the drum sequences while i play the bass, is it possible with that midi controller? i am planning on using this unit as my drummer while practicing at home, want to improve my improvement skills and a good way to do it is to be able to change the drum patterns on the fly.

i think that is all i want to do with the midi controller, at least the only thing i can remember now. the bass effects of the dr880 are not my interest, i only want its rhythms really.

tried to find the boss customer support email but couldn't find it anywhere? maybe anyone can help me here.

important: i do not have either unit with me but the dr880 is already headed to me

EDIT: better idea.. i want to connect the dr880 with the midi 5 pin cord from the rocktron patchmate 8 which in turn is controlled by the rocktron midi mate 7 pin midi cord. this will save me the trouble with cables as i will plug everything inside my rack

Boss always has a section in their manuals on what MIDI can do on their units- download the manual and have a look. Changing sequences is likely doable via MIDI PC messages.

Also, for support go to bossus.com. Then click Gear>Rhythm Machines>Dr-880>Support. There are two or three links there.
