Coolest effect ever

So I was listening to Thursday for the first time the other day, their bassist Tim Payne, has a great sound. Ive been trying to figure out what hes using---

I post this link cause theres a nice heavy loud bass intro, I think its a sans amp tec21 but not totally sure. Leave your ideas here! Thanks.

No effects, aside from maybe a touch of tube-ish grit. Get a Warwick Thumb, run it into an SVT, crank it up loud, and play with a pick. That will pretty much get you there.
