Copilot Gyroscope

Just wanted people's opinions on it, both as a phaser and a step filter, a search revealed mostly for sale threads.......

How easy did you find it to recover your step settings?

It honestly didn't work for me in a loud/heavy band setting...
For solo stuff, it is a rad pedal...or maybe in a 1 g****r quiet band, but it's on the subtle side once you factor in other instruments.

It's kiiiiiiiind of phasery, but not really. More filtery, then phasery.

The step filter is really cool. The best settings seemed to be from 2:00-5:00, but at 5:00 (dimed), the modulation was too much for my setup and popped all over the place.

I stacked this pedal with my Bass Big Muff Pi and got a really full sound in the "phase" setting. The other side is ridiculous....definitely not something that could be used lightly IMHO.

Great sound quality...great on bass (it has that nifty bass/g****r switch)

Can the Copilot Gyroscope be used as an envelope filter? There's one going for sale second hand locally and I'm looking out for an envelope filter; the seller said it has an envelope filter mode but I can't seem to find mention of this online, only a short post on this forum recommending it in an envelope filter thread. I don't want to drop cash on this and find it doesn't do envelope, only LFO...

I would pick a dedicated envelope filter over the gyroscope.

Is the filter mode that bad?

It's not that bad, but it's just easier to have a dedicated filter, rather a pedal that is either a filter or a step-phase (sort of). Having to switch back and forth is more trouble than the pedal's worth.
