they all do cool stuff.
for my money, the planetoid is the closet to "classic" ring mod sound. |

It can do a lot of stuff that most ring mods can't (auto-tuning, band splitting, wave shapes, pitch shifting) and it has presets. I did a quick run through of it and posted it at www.soundclick.com/zebcarpenter if you want to hear some sounds it can do. |

If you want a true ring mod go ring thing..
If you want more "out there" go for the copilot stuff.
I don't think anyone can tell you which one you will like.

Thankee. | Gotcha. The funtionality is similar on all 3. Tone-wise, the Planetoid is basically a "normal-sounding" ring mod, the Android is similar but more of a dirty ring-mod. The Antenna is basically a sample-rate reducer, which sounds more like a bit-crusher, but it also has a ring-mod carrier-type sound to it as well. |

If you want more "out there" go for the copilot stuff. | Keeping in mind of course that the Ring Thing is digital while the Copilot stuff is analog. Quote:

also, the orbit is nothing like a ring mod. just some wacked-out fuzz. |

Both Proton Lenny (in his band Mouth) and John Davis with Jojo Mayer's Nerve make some great electronica sounds with the Copilot. |
