Could this be a decent metal set up?

Me and my friend have been jamming a lot we tend to come up with some cool stuff I always try to play with my effect pedal I tend to jump to delay a lot for post-metal ambient sort of riffs but I want a set up for heavier sections. I was just playing around with my pedal and I combined an octaver, compressor and low equalizer it seemed to really add some thickness. Are there any other effects I could use and what are the set backs of having this set up?

It depends if you want some dirt, or a punchy clean tone... if you want the first, there are many many options! if you want the latter, perhaps all you need is experimenting a bit more with your EQ, new strings and hit the bass harder! (What bass are you sing btw?)

Best Regards!

Doug.

I assume you have a multi-fx unit? Which one? Bottom line, there are no rules, use whatever sounds you want to.
