Could the digitech bsw harm my amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am using the BSW as an octaver (0 5 0 7) and whenever i play anything below an A, the pre-amp clipping light on my bassman 150 is constantly lighting up. The manual for my amp says that that light should not be lighting up. It doesnt normally light up unless i really dig in. Can this harm my amp?

It cannot harm your amp- the clipping light indicates possible distortion, but distortion cannot harm your amp. It could harm your speakers under extreme circumstances, but that is not directly related to the clipping light.

Going below an open A with an octave pedal isn't the greatest sound you'll hear, anyway. Generally, that's considered to be the lowest note any octaver can reproduce cleanly, and that's just my 2 cents.

Doesn't mean you can't play anything below an A with the octaver on just most octavers other than POGs can't track any lower...some even have trouble at A.

Yeah, the POG (and probably the micro POG) is the only pedal I've heard that can go below A without sounding like crap. I posted a clip of my POG doing the "organ" sound, and I went all the way down to C# on my B string, and it still sounded great. The suboctave at that note is about the limit of human hearing I think.
