Crunchy distortion/overdrive pedal...

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently had the Fulltone Bass-drive and While I loved the pedal, it just cost me to much so I had to sell it. I liked the crunchy overdrive sound it provided. Anyone have any alternatives to this pedal for a little less than $150??

My first thought in seeing this thread title was a Bass Drive.

Dirt boxes that can do crunchy on bass without a ton of gain are pretty rare. For instance, I love the Tech 21 XXLB but it is far from an overdrive. It's a heavy distortion. A HAO Rust Ride can do that a bit but it loses low end and runs about $150 new.

I can think of some "warm" sounding overdrives for fairly cheap (DOD 250, Bad Monkey etc) but not crunchy.

Edit: Im looking for to kick in while my guitarist is playing solos or to thicken up riffage type stuff(guitar player and myself play the same notes and pattern)

The Bad Monkey is a great pedal for that slightly overdriven tones. Kinda like a Tubescreamer. Give it a try.

I just got a "badder bass" bad monkey and its pretty impressive. I like the "mixer out" which makes the highs a lot less scratchy. They go in your price range used.

This one would probably be closer to the Bass Drive: http://www.olcircuits.com/olc_mintcondition.html

For crunchy dist, I think the Ibanez PD7 is the best of the cheapies, around $60 usually.
